Mid Valley Mentors is enrolling men for our Sports Buddies Program. We train volunteers to build trusting, positive and fun relationships with their male mentees through weekly featured basketball activities at Parrish Middle School.

What is a Sports Buddy?
An male adult mentor who loves sports and would enjoy providing:

  • Friendship
  • Positive & upbeat attitude
  • Coaching
  • Interactions through sports

What Will Mentors Do?
Mentors and mentees will participate in weekly basketball activities with 2 mentees (youth).

Qualifications
- Be able to pass criminal history and driving history check
- Be available to meet weekly with 2 youth at Parrish Middle School for a minimum of 6 months
- Have reliable transportation and be willing to pick up and drop of mentees at their homes.

Great variety of activities to help participants “Run Into Fall” at our annual 5K/10K  & Fun Run/Walk!

“Run Into Fall” will take place on September 22nd at Minto Brown Island Park

The race benefits Mid Valley Mentors, a community-based nonprofit agency that provides support and transition services through one-to-one mentoring for children and adults in Marion County who are affected by incarceration. Our mission is to provide quality mentoring services that engages and motivates participants to create a positive life for themselves and their families.

Volunteer Opportunities:
o Anything (we’ll assign you!)
o Set-Up (requires early availability)
o Traffic and Parking
o Registration Desk
o Packet Pick-Up Desk
o Shirt Pick-Up Desk
o Refreshments/Water Tents
o Finish Line Clocker
o Photographer/Videographer
o Selling Raffle Tickets
o Tear Down/Clean Up
o Stuffing Race Packets (done prior to race day)

Time:
Saturday, September 22nd, 2012 – Shifts will run three to four hours the day of the race depending on the
volunteer opportunity you are assigned to. Hours will range between 6:00 am and 1:00 pm.
